It's not possible to automatically add spaces between words by pressing the space bar.
The words appear without spaces:
When I press the space bar, this appears:
Do you want to save the changes indesign document adobe before closing?
In other programs (PS, AI), the space bar works fine.
How can I fix this?

The problem has now been resolved.
In system settings (Mac),
I had to disable enhanced keyboard functions;
the same for mouse keys.

Does the space not work at all? I would look into your system.
is it a problem in a specific document? Look into paragraph settings > Paragraph Fine Tuning or Justify and work on the word space settings.

I'd take a look at the keyboard shortcut set in use as well. Sounds like the space bar might be re-mapped.

Well, seems unlikely the keyboard is defective or there's a system problem if the spacebar works in other applications.

It's certainly worth checking, but I'd love to know how it could have happened. If the spacebar was remapped I would think that it would do something, but I've seen crazier things.
