STIX fonts installation

Hello,

I am relatively inexperienced with InDesign and computers in general but I open InDesign files for minor modifications. I'm currently getting pop-ups when I open files that I'm missing many fonts in the STIX family, and it messes up math equations in my files because I don't have it.

I have movemen installed and see in the plug-ins/fonts folder that there is the first version of STIX installed - however, I've scoured Google and the STIX website and there is very very little instruction on how to install whatever this missing second version of STIX is.

I have InDesign CC 2018 and I am using a Windows PC. Like I said, I have very little experience with computers and don't understand the complicated lingo used on most forums. Anyone have this STIX issue or has anyone resolved how to install it?

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you!

Correct answer Dov Isaacs

This has absolutely nothing to do with Typekit!!

Fonts in the STIX package's ZIP file have the file suffixes of either .otf and/or .ttf. These are what need to be installed on your Windows system.

Per Bob Levine's advice, wherever you have extracted these fonts to, right click on those (.otf or .ttf) files and select Install.

Hello, this is Ferdinand from movemen.

As per Dov Isaacs and Bob Levine's advice, you need to follow the instructions to install fonts on Windows.

Did you try copying the font files into a local font folder "Document fonts"? Once you re-open the indd InDesign should find these document fonts automatically.

Hope this helps.

Have you contacted Movemen directly about this issue? The developer does check this site: movemen crew not responding  (his responses are at the bottom of that thread, so it is possible to PM him about the issue.

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

If that is an actual font you will have find it and install it. I don’t know if it’s free or not.

The easiest way to install fonts in Windows is to browse to a folder where they’re located, select them, right click and choose install.

But they're not found in TypeKit, does it still work this way? I've found the ZIP file for the STIX package and downloaded it but I've tried extracting it to the plug-ins folder, to the movemen folder, to the movemen fonts folder, etc. but none of it has worked.

I just told you how to install them in the operating system. Try that first.
