New Here ,
Oct 30, 2025 Oct 30, 2025

After the 2026 InDesign update, when I move the tabs in the text box forward or backward by moving the arrows, the tabs on the right side of the tab I moved disappear, I have to start the tab from the beginning every time, I couldn't find a solution.1.jpg2.jpg

Hello everyone,

I appreciate all the information shared throughout this discussion. I understand how annoying the tab behavior has been in version 21.0, particularly when it disrupts your layout every time you attempt to modify a tab. The product team has issued a hotfix today with version 21.0.1, which addresses this issue. When you have a moment, please update to the latest version and verify if the tabs are functioning normally again. You can also check the release notes here: https://adobe.ly/3K9Gzox

I think I read another post about this. Appears to be among the new bugs introduced in version 21.0.

PTSD for me. Memories of first years InDesign launch. Totally unacceptable.

With respect, it's not good enough to keep asking for our patience when what is blatently broken is so fundamental to using the package! Adobe have absolutely zero patience if we are a minute pate with paying our subscription, so asking us to wait for what is now two weeks from this being highlighted and recognised as an issue is not acceptable. Can you at least give us a link to the previous version so we can reinstall that and have a working version!

Not good enough.

So agree. What with the price increase, we the subscribers should be getting BUG FREE updates. Not this nonsense.

How though? There's nothing available in the CC Desktop app apart from the current broken version?

Any ideas?

You don't see InDesign 2025 in the All Apps tab?

Already tried that. There's nothing there (on InDesign or any other app)

Since the most recent update of InDesign V21.0 tabs have become an issue. When I attempt to drag one, other set ones will dissappear. This didn't happen till this update. Is there a new setting I need to change or is this simply a bug? I've attached a video that illustrates the issue. When I drag the 3rd tab from the left, the far right tab just dissappears. Any help is much appreciated.

Hello @Alicia22233681i9w2,

Thanks for reaching out. I tried replicating this on my end, but could not. Could you check if InDesign behaves this way with all files? Also, try to run InDesign under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Here is an example with a new file created. The last tab dissappears when I move the 3rd.

Is this happening with old files opened in version 21 or with new files you're creating.

If it's an old file, try exporting to IDML and opening that file in version 21 to see if that clears out any possible corruption.

I just updated to InDesign 21.0 running on a Mac running Tahoe 26.0.1. The tab panel is behaving strangely. When placing multiple tabs and then moving any one of those multiple tabs, all other tabs disappear. I have to constantly replace tabs to get text to line up as needed. I have used InDesign since the days of PageMaker so I'm fairly certain this is a bug in the latest release.

Yup this is causing major problems with my work flow. Left-hand tabs suddenly become right-hand tabs when the position is moved, leader dots just disappear, plus a total inability to set more than two tabs, then one vanishes. Driving me nuts today trying to fix this. C'mon Adobe!!

Hello all.

It seems that the latest InDesign updates are messing up tabs. I am experiencing that if I have multiple tabs implemented that as soon as I try to move a tab, all the others dissappear and I need to re-implement all the tabs again. This is quite time consuming and quite frankly, annoying. Let me know if there is a fix.

Thanks

Sam

Hi there.

I have a problem with indesign version 21.0x64

I have a table setup with tabs not cells. Everytime i try to fine tune the tub it deletes the next ones.

Any thoughts about that?

Hi Mario. Yes we are all still waiting for it to be fixed.

I have gone back to ID 2025 and it works perfectly.
