Text box (and Graphics Frame) scaled to 141% and won't rescale

Hi,

I have inherited a document, which needs tidying up and re formatting across the board. I have come to a couple of pages which seem to have been copied from an A4 document to this document (A3). The text boxes have been scaled, to fit the page(141.41%), however I can't change this back to 100% so that the text frame matches the rest of the document. No matter what I do, whether i try to change the text using the ribbon at the top of the screen, or re-apply a paragraph style, or edit a paragraph style the font is 141.41% larger than it should be the font size box reads: '36 pt (50.91)'. A colleague of mine had a similar issue a little while back, but it got to the point where it was easier to just start the document from new, this document is far too big to do that with the time frame I have to prepare it.

    For scaling the text frame back you would select it and use the Percentage input fields of the Transformation panel. Make sure that the preferences for scaling under Preferences > General is set to "Adjust Scaling Percentage". After changing the scaling percentages back to 100% set back the preferences for scaling to "Adjust to Contents". ( Wording of the options could be a bit different because I'm translating this from my German InDesign version.)

    Hi Ta,

    the easiest way would be to draw out a new text frame, copy the text from the scaled one and paste it to the new one.

    Another way would be to scale the frame back to 100% and change its size afterwards.

    I have started  the process you described, but am hopeful that there may be a lovely little setting that needs turning on or off which will do it all at once.

    Rescaling the frame to 100% doesn't work, once I deselect the frame it springs back to 141%.

    That's hard to believe. I only can tell that this behavior is quite unusual.

    Unless: You are on InDesign CC 2018 and an applied object style is dictating the size.
