Text Box Outline - How to make it show.

I am going through InDesign training via DVD. On the DVD the instructors text boxes remain outlined even when not selected (but not with the anchor points). Mine do not.

How do I get them to appear?

    Launch Indesign.
With no document open, go to the view menu and set your viewing preference for the frame edges.
    Quit and relaunch InDesign.

This will apply to all NEW documents from that point on. Any existing documents will keep the setting that was in effect when they were last saved. So, to change them, open each in turn, change the setting, and save.

This applies to almost anything throughout the application. If you can change the setting without any documents open, then you can set your preference for any new documents.

Is there a way to make this always show up by default? Every time I start InDesign I have to press CMD+H to view the frame edges.

    Check the View menu

Hide or Show frame edges (CMD+H to toggle)
Make sure you aren't in preview mode (gray pasteboard "w" to toggle)
