I'm using the latest version of InDesign and suddenly I can't make and type in a text box if it's within the page. I can do it if I make the rectangle outside of the page boundries. If I try to type in the text box it diisappears. Can't click and drag to make a new text box within the page. I've worked in older versions of InDesign and have never encountered this problem. Weirdly, I can make text boxes on some of my pages, but not on others. I've tried to reset the preferances by closing InDesign and reopening while pressing Shift/Control/Option/Command, but that doesn't bring up the diologue box that others have mentioned.
By the way, I can lock the existing layers and make the text box, but having to do this will drive me nuts (I'm creating a big book!)
Thank you.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

It sounds like either you are adding your text on a layer below a page-sized object on some pages, or there is a text wrap applied to a background images on your problem pages.
