Text dissapearing on line after stoping typing or saving

I am working on this document but I have text that disapears in the botton blue box, if i click type on the box i can type and see the text as shown below but after stopping typing or clicking save the text dissapears.  Any ideas?

It's a stacking issue. Your blue bar on that one is ABOVE your text box. Your type is showing because when you click inside, it comes forward so you can see the type, then goes back underneath. Select the bar and send it behind or select the text box and bring it forward (Object > Arrange > Send backward/forward)

That being said, you could be using paragraph shading for that bar; there's no need to make separate bars and line them up manually as you are doing. See my sample file and look at the Paragraph Style Options for that item (Edit) > Paragraph Shading. I used a Red colour, but you get the drift. You will also need to adjust the width of your text box so the bar is the length you want it.
