Text Formating lost when pasting from other applications

I'm using the most up to date versions of Indesign cc2018 but I can not paste any text from any other application and retain the formatting.

I have the correct settings enabled within Clipboard Handling / When pasting Text and Tables from Other Applications Paste : All Information (Index Markers, Swatches, Styles, etc.)

But whenever I try to paste any formatted text from any other application specifically illustrator or Photoshop the text looses all formatting. I can copy and past formatted text back and forth from Illustrator to Photoshop but indesign isnt playing ball, on top of the almost daily application crashes this is getting frustrating...any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah, unfortunately, it's just not possible to copy/paste text from PS or AI to INDD without losing formatting...

FWIW, you can also vote for such a request/improvement, but it's very unlikely to change something:

You can now (begining with InDesign CC 2018 and Illustrator CC 2018 share text assets with Creative Cloud Libraries. It works!

Creative Cloud libraries in InDesign

See the section "Add and Share Text Assets"

Won't work with Photoshop however.

Hi, Thanks for the answer, thats strange I've been using Photoshop, illustrator and Indesign for many years and Im sure I could have pasted formatted text between them before...However, at the moment I cant paste any formatted text from any application into Indesign, whats the point of having this option- Clipboard Handling / When pasting Text and Tables from Other Applications Paste : All Information (Index Markers, Swatches, Styles, etc.) IF any text I copy and paste from any other application looses formatting? I'm also finding strange things happening now like text loosing formatting when copied from one Indesign document to another, I thought this might a character styles thing, but it isn't.

Since yet ANOTHER update, it's changed and won't paste. If I copy edits from Acrobat to Indesign it's losing formatting and it's ridiculous as this used to be fine, onw takes 2 x the time to do the work.
