Text Formatting Issues When Opening Older InDesign Documents in Newer Versions

When I open *some* older (1 year old) documents in later versions of InDesign (last several updates), the text in the folio loses its formatting. The affected text is on the parent pages, includes a section marker, and is supposed to be formatted in small caps. The text on the right-hand-pages changes to upper/lower case when opened in the newer version of ID. Reapplying the small caps formatting (either from the Character palette or a character style) does not fix the problem. Font is Calluna Regular (Typekit).

My current workaround is to save as IDML and open in an earlier version (18.5.4), resave from there, and open again in version 19.5. Considering I have 100 of these documents to prepare, this is not sustainable.

Any ideas out there??

Some suggestions with no documents open and InDesign shut down:

1. At https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/calluna make sure "Add Family" is installed.

2. Just for good measure: go to the CC app > fonts and find the Calluna family of fonts and click on "Install Family"

3. After opening InDesign, go to Preferences > File Handling and tick on the switch for "Auto-Activate Adobe Fonts". Ok, then restart InDesign again, and test the problem when you open some of your affected files.

PS: Some say that having a "Document fonts" folder with the same typefaces in them can confuse the app-and-OS and create odd font conflicts.

PSS: Use paragraph styles on these text elements to clearly define the look of the text, including the small capping.

Thank you! Making a paragraph style seems to have solved the issue. Just need to load that style into the other documents as I open them.
