Text in quotes changes paragraph style

Dear all,

I am struggling with one issue when I put some text in quotes like this "text text text etc" the text inside the quotes automatically chans into italics and black color. When I try to apply paragraph style which I created the text does not change. I. e. no color, font, etc.is applied.

Does anybody know how to force InDesign not to automatically change the text in quotes and instead of it apply the paragraph / text style to it?

Thank you for your help

Tom

Is the text at the start of Paragraph or anywhere inside?
Might the main Paragraph style have any GREP settings like "Text inside quotes must be italic"? Do you have any unwanted Character styles?
And the last question: would you please share a working file (its fragment, 1-2 pages is enough) to try to locate the problem?
