Text rendering problems Indesign 2022 M1 MacBook Air Big Sur

I recently upgraded to an M1 Macbook Air, Running Big Sur 11.6.2, and Adobe Indesign 2022. I am having persistent rendering problems with text in text boxes: text will completely disappear from view, a cursor can still sit in text but there is nothing visible. The problem can be temporarily overcome by zooming in and out or scrolling the view off screen and scrolling back, however, within a very short time the same rendering issue happens. I spend my days typesetting and am incredibly frustrated by this problem with what can only be considered a core function of indesign. Does anyone have a fix or know why this might be happening? And, hey Adobe! WTF. I really feel i should be getting a refund on this month's subscription.

You'll notice in the screen shot I have attached that three quarters of the view of the verso side of the spread missing in view. The cursor is still visible in text which is invisible.

Hi there,

We are sorry for the trouble. The product team is aware of this, and as @Frans v.d. Geest mentioned above, we have tried to address the issue in our v17.1 release, which is currently available in a few selected countries and will be rolled out globally soon.

In the meantime, it gets released in your region. I will suggest you join our Prerelease program. Please click this link (www.adobeprerelease.com/) and go to the "Available Program" section to join the InDesign prerelease.

Then accept the Prerelease agreement and follow the steps mentioned below to install the Prelease v17.1:
- Close InDesign
- Go to Creative Cloud Desktop and look for Prerelease in the Apps section.

- Click on ellipses (three dots) near Install to get "Other versions" and install the older Preleease v17.1 (This will not replace the existing installation of Release build of InDesign).

Let us know how it goes after installing this version.

I will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

The installation went successfully, however, there are still some glitchy display issues...I haven't had any text box viewing errors, but i have had freezing zoom issues (using trackpad to zoom in and out freezes on occasion) and also page view errors (where page borders (crop region or bleed region) loses its borders and the entire page seems to freeze a bit and scrolling up and down again or zooming in and out (providing the trackpad zoom is working) are the only ways to refresh the page view. I have also had a couple of crashes. So....better but very much only beta better.

Hi @Gilbert5C25,

Thanks for trying the prerelease. Please update public v17.1 released today globally and let us know how it goes.

If it doesn't resolve the issue. I would request you to please share a small video demonstrating the issue. It would be really helpful for us to understand the issue, and we can assist you accordingly or share it further with the product team.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Are you fully updated to the latest version 17.1? It is fixed in that version.

My subscription on CC assures me i am using the latest version, though I have just received a message from Adobe (below) explaining there are regional release differences. I am in New Zealand and will have to run a prerelease version...thanks for that Frans!
