Text wrap panel grayed out InDesign

Computer: macOS Catalina v. 10.15.7

I am using InDesign 2022 on a Mac. For the past month or two, the text wrap panel has not been working. The panel is just gray, does not show any options. If I completely uninstall and reinstall InDesign it will fix the problem for about the first timre I open it, and then it's gone again. Is this because my computer is too old?   I don't have the same problem on my MacBook Air, which is running OS Monterey v.12.4.

Try deleting your InDesign cache files (this is not the same as deleting preferences). Deleting caches can usually fix interface problems such as the one you describe.

To do so on a Mac:

The User Library folder in which InDesign’s cache files are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N). With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire folder “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the InDesign cache folder completely leads to a lasting change.

    I had to do this before, and it worked, but this time I had nothing in my cache folder for InDesign. My text wrap OFTEN does not work... and it's a frustrating flaw in the program.

    Oh guess what? Still not working. I think money back is in order. 


    New update and text wrap still not working.
