The find/change command will not do anything - nothing happens

Hello, I am working in a file that was originally created in an older version, so I am willing to accept that there may be some corruption in my file. This is the problem: I am currenlty running InDesign 2022. I am unable to run Find/Change command. It is present on the Edit tab and it looks like it should work (is not greyed out), but no dialog box appears. I have restarted my computer two times and the program at least six times. There has been no change in this problem. I am also unable to reset my preferences. The ctrl + alt + shift keystroke when opening the program does not do anything at all. I am trying to put together a digital publication and I really need this tool to work!

Try to delete the Caches folder manually: close InDesign, open "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\", next go to "Your version" --> "Your language", and remove the Caches folder.
