The InDesign Tutorials that used to launch within the program are now gone

Yesterday, I was going through the InDesign tutorial videos that launched in a separate window within the InDesign program.  Today, I cannot get them to appear.  I can go to Help and Tutorials and the Adobe website and tutorials launches in my browser.  For a variety of reasons, I would rather use the tutorials that were within the program (easier to resize window, easier to run while I have other things going on in browser windows, etc.).  So, yes, I can get the same results in the browser versions of the tutorial, but it is really frustrating that the in-program tutorial window seems to no longer be available when I much preferred using that.  Does anyone know how to launch the in-program tutorials?

I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone, because I just spent about 4 hours yesterday going through the same tutorials that are now only available in a browser, but going through them in a non-browser window, which I think was within the InDesign program.  I am hoping someone from Adobe will verify that I am not losing my mind.  I wish I could remember exactly what it was, but it was a small rectangular window that opened up on top of the InDesign screen in the upper left corner.  I could move and resize that window separately, and it most certainly was not a browser window, nor did it appear to be a media player type window.  It was way easier to use than having to use a browser, which it seems today is my only option.

I just found that there is a (new?) panel available from the menus that I had never noticed before, and I suspect that this is what you were using to watch tutorials: Window » Learn.

I figured out what you were looking for as I was having the same issue. In the top right corner where there's the seach bar, go left to where you see a light bulb icon. That houses the in-app video tutorials.

I do not recall ever seeing in-app tutorials in InDesign, they are all browser-based. You might be thinking of Photoshop, which does have in-app tutorials.

I was just going through the tutorials in InDesign yesterday!  Now I wish I would have taken a screen shot.  I have no idea why suddenly today my only option is to open them in a browser!

You didn't tell us what version of InDesign you're using. In Indesign CC 2019, I'm seeing tutorials under the Learn tab of the Start screen.

Make sure you haven't turned off "Show 'Start Screen'" in General Preferences,

If that doesn't work restore your InDesign preferences:

    Set preferences in Adobe InDesign

In InDesign, the Learn panel (I'm told) only appears on come copies. Supposedly, when you signed up for Creative Cloud, you were asked your experience level. If you selected Beginner, it was added. That's why not everyone has it.

Everyone has access to the Learn section of the Start screen, which is what I was describing.

Interesting that the Learn panel would only appear based on a question when you signed up for CC. This would have been many years after I started using InDesign, so I am unlikely to have selected Beginner at that point. Then again, I only noticed the panel yesterday while doing something else, so its availability could well be tied in with resetting preferences or some such thing. Dunno.

In any case, I was merely trying to help Soccerlemon with the original question, which specifically asked where to find the tutorials seen within the app—and specifically excluded the ones in the Start screen that are browser-based.

That said, for online (instead of in-app) tutorials I very much second the Lynda.com (now LinkedIn Learning) video courses, beginning with David Blatner’s wonderful InDesign Essential Training. (Edit: It is worth mentioning that, at least in the US, full access to Lynda.com is often available for free through your local public library.)
