Hello,

I know InDesign but now I can't use it because my computer is not prepared technically. As I write ebooks I need to do the layout myself or ask somebody else.

My question is if it is possible to rent a computer in a special Center or Academy, I don't know, perhaps exist a place where to use the programs of Adobe Cloud for hours only.

Do you have any suggestion?

Regards,

Oria

Enrolling in a class might be less expensive than renting a computer or hiring someone. It also might not be much different in cost to buy some new hardware that can run Creative Cloud. If you can't afford or don't want a yearly subscription, you can get a monthly plan.

Hi Peter,

I have just seen your message. Sorry for not having responded before. Well, I bought a computer about some years ago thinking to use Photoshop and InDesign. The principal difference was the graphic card but it had charactiristics to be prepared to use Adobe Cloud for quite a long time. But nowadays with technology you never can be sure. I have checked recently the requirements and I would say I only would need to renew from windows 8.1 to windows 10. I don't know if this is as simple as to buy an updating program (with the free version I couldn't update). I have discard taking the computer to an informatic store as I need it every day and every hour :-). Nevertheless, I have seen good prices of design professionals in some freelance webs. If you have recommendations, please tell me.

Hi Kyra,

You can certainly buy a Windows 10 upgrade, but you may still be able to get it for free. Check out https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

Before doing anything though, make sure your hardware meets the requirements to run Windows 10: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-system-requirements-6d4e9a79-66bf-7950-467c-795cf0386715

Keep in mind that's the MINIMUM requirement to run the OS and probably need a good bit more RAM.

Sytem requirements for Adobe apps can be found at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/system-requirements.html

I don't think that business model exists. Adobe licenses Creative Cloud to individual people, not for computers to be shared. People who just want to use it for a few hours have to pay the same as professionals using it full time.

If

* you pay for a subscription

* you rent a computer which has the Creative Cloud apps already installed

then you can sign in and use your subscription on any computer.

It's hard for me to say who or where (I'd have to leave that part of the searching up to you, since I don't know where you are), but I've known computer training facilities to rent seat space inside their facilities to people for "lab purposes" to complete their own projects on an hourly or day rate. But you'll have to know how to work with the program yourself — no training facility is going to "help you a little" with your work unless you enroll in classes with them.

Good luck,

Randy

Sorry, I'm from Barcelona, Spain. I know there are WorK Spaces hee that people can rent as if it was a personal office shared with other entrepreneurs but I don't remember they have computers to rent. Nevertheless, your comment is interesting because I didn't know it. Barcelona is a big city and probably here there are also the places you arte talking about. Now, I have to find them (if they  exist).

The last option is to contact a junior designer to do it. In this case, fiverr is an option. Do you know other places to contact junior designers?

Thanks a lot for your help.

If you hire a junior designer to do this, with experience creating InDesign print and digital documents, they likely may have the software to do the job too. Put that in your job request, and you won't have to search for some remote system somewhere so you can both work on the job. You can use your hired designer's system.

That's the easiest way to do this.

Good luck,

Randy
