My Toolbox panel in InDesign is frozen. All the tools are visible but I can't use any of them. The text tool is highlighted, all the others are grayed out.
It may be worth noting that the Toolbox looks like that when you are in Story Editor. Ctrl/Cmd+Y will toggle between Layout View and Story Editor view. I'm curious if this happened after using Story Editor? And what InDesign version/operating system are you using? We had a number of similar reports a few years ago, but yours is the first I've seen lately. I seem to remember that some were somehow stuck in Story Editor view.

Did you try restarting InDesign? Rebooting?
If that doesn't work, try resetting your preferences. See Reset InDesign Preferences and Other Troubleshooting

I've restarted InDesign and restarted the computer without fully shutting it down. I'll try that next and also look into resetting Preferences. Thanks!

That did it! Not clear how exactly I got stuck in Story Editor, but I'm not anymore and have my tools back again. Thank you so much! FYI I'm using InDesign version 19.5, the most recent.
