Question

Touchpad Zoom almost unuseable on MacOS

This has been a long standing issue with InDesign over the last couple of years of releases.

Using two fingers to zoom (while holding OPTION) is buggy. It does work, but barely. Most of the time when zooming out it will zoom in instead, or maybe zoom in and out rapidly.

This function works just fine with the mouse.

Does anyone else experience this? I've been having this issue on multiple computers including work machines and Macs located at studios and agencies, not just limited to my own.

Still an issue, both on a 2015 Macbook Pro and on a 2024 Macbook Pro. Cmd & + or Cmd & - are in no way more efficient. Option & two fingers lets you scrub the entire zoom range and land where you want in an instant. The keyboard shortcut takes almost 20 keystrokes, or 2 seconds if you hold the key, to go from minimum to maximum zoom. Option & two finger zoom works flawlessly in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Same issue when zooming using the Magic Mouse.

To be honest, I've used InDesign on my Mac for well over a decade and I don't think I ever used the touchpad to zoo,. I always used CTRL & + or CTRL & - to zoom

I use the Magic Mouse to zoom, as I would a scroll wheel. I prefer not to have to move my hand off the Mouse every time I need to zoom. Magic Mouse has the same zoom bug as the touch pad.

Hi @Rob5FE3 ,

We're so sorry to hear about the trouble. Would you mind sharing the version of InDesign & macOS along with a small video of the issue? We'll test this on our end and escalate it further if needed.

Thanks
