Hello, recently I bought brand new Asus ProArt laptop and when I tried to use Indesign app it was unusable. the scrolling speed with trackpad is EXTREAMELY FAST both horizontally and vertically. in the same amount of movementwith trackpad on other Adobe apps i move so slightly, while on indesign i skip FULL PAGES.

Even when I tried to use external mouse it was too sensitive compared to sensitivity on Illustrator, both on 100% view ; not in the same insane speed while using the trackpad, but still brutally fast

In the

Now, before you suggest me for a solution let me tell you what I already did:

- I tried closing the app and reopen it

- I tried restarting my computer

- I checked for updates for my Indesign app; I have the last version

- I checked for updates for my Windows version and mouse drivers

- I tried reinstalling Indesign

- I tried to downgrade all the available versions of Indesign on creative cloud app

In the attached video I demonstrate the problem, and compare the scrolling speed to Illustrator app, on A4 size pages at the same distance from the display. It is important for me to note that the movement I made using the touchpad was only a few millimeters.

I don't have a solution to your problem but was wonderig if you had found one yet.
I'm experiencing the same issue on my work provided Asus ProArt /:

Potential Fixes to Try:

Adjust Scrolling Settings in Windows:

Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and adjust the sensitivity.
Set “Scroll and Zoom” settings to a lower value or reduce the number of lines scrolled per step.

Check ASUS Precision Touchpad Software:

ASUS laptops often come with utilities like Smart Gesture or driver-specific settings. Look for touchpad customization options to reduce scroll speed.

Check Accessibility Settings:

In Windows, under Ease of Access > Mouse > Pointer Options, try reducing pointer speed and see if it affects scrolling sensitivity.

External Mouse Configuration:
For the external mouse:

Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse and reduce the scroll wheel sensitivity.

Test with Another App Profile:
Use third-party software like AutoHotKey or Logitech Options (if your external mouse is Logitech) to create a custom scroll profile specifically for InDesign.

There might be other 3rd party apps that allow you to create a profile for InDesign.

I'd also specifically check with ASUS support there might be an alternate driver that they can recommend.

already tried it all.

Regarding additional Logitech software- there is no reason for me to install additional program to a brand new computer cost 3000$ for such basic bug. thats redicolus and should not be a problem in the first place

Well, the proper solution is to get a real pointing device instead of the tech-hack that fits into a laptop, but I wasn't going to say that. 🙂

You could change sensitivity in the system settings - but as it's OK in the Illustrator, it probably won't help ... unless there are separate settings for different applications?

This. Most laptops have a trackpad/mouse driver applet that allows for considerable configuration of the input, often by app. This feature may be hidden under a "Games" mode or the like.

Although I have never seen that, you mention that you have not tried to reset InDesign preferences. So when in doubt, many experiment with resetting preferences. This troubleshooting guide describes 4 ways to reset preferences.

I tried, nothing changed.
