Trouble Implementing Superscript Character Style

I created this style based on my normal, narrative text style, with the vertical position 'superscript' and no other changes. When I tried to assign this stype to a character, the alignment remained centered vertically with respect to the adjacent character. Not sure what is going on here. Any ideas appreciated, as always.

Please open your Preferences panel and go Advanced Type.

What values are set for Superscript text?
