Trouble Updating InDesign Assignments and Layouts from OneDrive

New Here ,
Oct 30, 2024 Oct 30, 2024

Hello, I use Indesign 19.5 to create layouts and make assignments.

Lately, I ve been losing important changes when I open layout after the edits been made by the editor.

My layout files and assignments are stored on OneDrive. When editors make edits and changes, sometimes they are not reflect on my end when I open the layout. I either don't get the "Update links" box or, sometimes, I update assignments but the changes are not there. Incopy files are also don't reflect the changes when I open them. However, my collegues coul open this layout on their end and see all the changes.

Hi @antoni68818361,

Thanks for reaching out! I understand how frustrating it can be to lose important changes in your InDesign layouts.

To assist you better, could you please provide a bit more information?

1. What operating system are you using?
2. Can you confirm that both you and your colleagues are using the same version of InDesign (19.5)?
3. Is this issue happening with a specific file, or are you experiencing it with all your files?

In the meantime, please confirm that you follow the below suggestions:

1. Make sure that OneDrive is fully synced before opening your files in InDesign. Check if there are any pending uploads or downloads in OneDrive.

2. You can reset your InDesign preferences by holding down `Cmd + Option + Shift` (Mac) or `Ctrl + Alt + Shift` (Windows) while starting InDesign. Reference: https://adobe.ly/3UtkLGz

3. Clear InDesign’s cache by deleting the InDesign Cache files located in:
   - Mac: `~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/`
   - Windows: `C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\`

4. Ensure that you have the latest updates for OneDrive installed.

5. Close your layout files and reopen them after ensuring OneDrive has synced properly. This may prompt the "Update links" box to appear, allowing you to see the latest changes made by your editors.

Let me know if these steps help or if you need further assistance!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

I'm guessing this is an InCopy thing. So, as with all InDesign files on OneDrive or any other cloud service, disable any smart sync / cloud only features so that all files are synced locally to each user's hard drive.
