I turned this off on one computer but cant remember where or how to do it on another computer.  I will place items or drag/drop items onto my Indesign document and it tried to auto resize the item to fit the document page.  How do I turn this off?

To open the Auto-Fit feature go to Object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options and untick auto fit.

I fixed the problem, fortunately it was a totally different issue than I realized.  It had to do with the "Show Import Options" when dropping in a PDF.  When the problem was being described to me, it sounded like an issue I had after updating ID a few months ago where it was autoresizing documents I would place in that became a big problem, something I still dont remember how I fixed that issue.  Thanks anyway for the help!

It sounds to me like your not dealing with auto-fit (unless you specifically defined it for the frames in which you are placing the graphics. Instead, I think you're experiencing the new "Content Aware Fit" option that was added to InDesign. I could be mistaken of course, but that's what it sounds like. Go to Preferences > General, and at the bottom of the dialog box, make sure that "Make Content-Aware Fit the default frame fitting option" is unchecked.

Keep in mind that the effect of setting such options depends on the state you're in:

Are you setting it for a selected element, then it just works of that selected element.

Are you in a document with nothing selected ? Then it will be the default for that document.

Are you in InDesign with no opened document ? Then it will be the default for new documents.
