Two sets of page numbers - one reversed

Hello InDesign Enthusiasts!

I am new to the forums.  I use InDesign to publish a 124-page prison magazine in English.  I would call myself intermediate in skill level, having taught myself the program via textbooks and good ol' google.

Recently I saw a Forbes magazine that had promotional material that started at the back cover with a flipped orientation so it read like another magazine from the back.  I would like to do this with Spanish content. English cover and content starts from the front; Spanish cover and content from the back.  Rotating spreads is easy; numbering is not obvious.

Is there a way to have a numbering system from the back cover in (like E1, E2, E3, etc.) that is separate from the English numbering system (1,2,3, etc.)?

Thank you for any thoughts you may have.

Laura

A professional printer will take care of this for you. Touch base now to see how they want the file delivered, but I'd expect that you just need to provide the two sections numbered normally, and they will take it from there.

If for some reason you need to provide the file with the backwards numbering, you will need to set up each page number manually via the Pages panel menu > Numbering and Section Options.

With InDesign, as Barb said, the best bet is to just set them up as two separate and normal documents. To do the inverted, back-to-back thing yourself, PDF export and Acrobat are the tools for the reverse-order and page-rotate.

I see that now.  Acrobat solves a lot of my problems!  Thank you!
