Unable to create new document in indesign

Hi, after recently updating my mac, I have no longer been able to create a new document in indesign or illistrator. It won't even let me click on the creat button. If I click on it nothing happens. Also, I am unabel to click on any of teh function s on the app. All I can do is open my old work. It also is onl allowing me to work in essentials and nothing else. Ive tried restarting the cmputer, and denstalling and reinstalling the app, and nothing has helped. I have no idea what to do and I need help. Ive attached some screenshots of some of the issues.

Did you try rebuilding preferences/cache in InDesign?

Hi, I'm currently having this exact problem and have a univeristy project deadline in a matter of weeks - i'm so so stressed and have tried everything I've found on the internet but had no luck!! PLEASE let me know if you managed to fix this, my issue is literally exactly the same.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Resetting preferences as suggested by Barb in earlier response should help. If it didn't, you may follow the community posts as suggested below:
