Unable to download Publish Online PDF - it returns a "Bad Request" error message

New Here ,
Oct 24, 2025 Oct 24, 2025

I'm having a problem with my published document here: https://indd.adobe.com/view/499aa923-8fed-445f-89ad-b20d537b7204.  No one can download the PDF. A previous user here in the forums had the same problem and it was special characters in the URL.  I don't put special characters in the name, but they are appearing on the error message URL as [working_document].pdf. It seems that InDesign adds this additional phrase to my URL (doc is named "2025 MBU Catalog"), and I don't know how to remove it.

Can you give the exact filename? Can you share the PDF here please?

Maybe it wasn't set to download initially - what happens if you republish it online?

I republished without the [ ] characters in the file name and it worked. I wasn't able to access the file remotely and had to wait until I got back into the office. That was the only frustrating thing.  Thanks!

May I only mention that in your original message you said you didn't use any special characters in the file name:

> I don't put special characters in the name, but they are appearing on the error message URL as

> [working_document].pdf.

Had you made it clear from the start that the file name contained special characters, you'd have received a solution much sooner.

Hi @Denise37840978nwum,

Thanks for sharing the link. Adding to the expert's suggestion, I checked your published document, and it opened fine for me. I was also able to download the PDF successfully using the Download button without any error. Could you please try opening the link in a different browser or in an incognito/private window? You can also try clearing your browser's cache and then reopening the link. Please give that a try and let me know if the issue persists.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

It worked once I was able to access the working design file and rename it without the special characters [ ] and republish it. I guess the only frustration was not being able to access the working file remotely to do so. I had to wait until I was physically back in the office. Thanks!

Thanks for following up, that explains it, the special documents were part of the filename and not added by the system.
