Hi, same problem here all day. All other apps work except PS, AI, ID.

Hi everyone,
We’ve received reports of apps crashing or becoming unresponsive after launch, particularly following the release of version 19.5. Unlike generic crashes, this issue specifically causes all Adobe apps to get stuck at the splash screen or enter a “not responding” state, preventing them from launching.
The problem has been traced to certain Beta Adobe applications related to video composition and editing. We recommend updating all Beta and released versions of video-specific Adobe

If you're running InDesign 18.5, then it appears that many users experience the same issue (judging by the amount of similar posts on the forum).
First, update to macOS 13.5. It solved the issue for some users.
If it doesn't help, then users recommend to install an earlier version - preferably 18.3. You can do it from the Creative Cloud app:

13.5 is in Beta, and I've had one very bad experience with Beta and wont ever touch that again. I downgraded to 18.4 and will report back if I have any issues.

macOS 13.5 is NOT in beta, the current macOS released version is 13.5.1

Try rolling back to the previous version.
From the Creative Cloud management app, select InDesign, and then select the ... on the right to choose other versions.

Hi @EJ4K ,
We sincerely apologize for the trouble. Our team has already documented a bug for this issue and is working on the fix. In line with advice from other members, we're currently suggesting that to address the macOS crash upon launch problem, updating your operating system could help. We've observed similar cases where users updated their OS and successfully resolved the issue.
Thanks

When exactly is this bug going to be fixed? The monthly Creative Cloud fee consitutes a significant proportion of my income and I need to be able to work without bugs. Updates should not be released with bugs present. This is causing me big problems, very unhappy.

InDesign 18.5 had been giving me fits on my Imac for the entire month of August. Today, Sept. 3, I update the operating system on my Imac from Ventura13.2.1 to Ventura 13.5.1. No InDesign 18.5 is back!

Meant to say “Now InDesign 18.5 is back!”

If you can update your OS to 13.5.1 that should solve it.

Today my indesign started crashing upon opening. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the application and it is still doing it. I click on the app icon and it tries to start up and then crashes before it completely opens. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

As a work around I uninstalled 18.5 Indesign and reinstalled the older version of 18.4 and it is working fine now. Not sure what is causing it I am guessing there is some kind of bug. Hoping Adobe fixes the problem.

Ich habe es schon mehrfach deinstalliert, es ändert sich leider nichts. Vielen Dank für eure Rückmeldung!!

My companies emails restructered so I had to create a new company adobe acconut, and ever since then InDesign has been giving me problems. The only way for me to open InDesign is to go to creative cloud, uninstall it, install it, and open it. If I exit out inDesign, it will be unable to re-open. I don't know if this is a result of the new update that I got when I redownloaded it or what. My other apps work fine (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, XD).
Specifically what happens is this boot up screen will appear for less than half a second before Just closing as if nothing happened.
I don't want to have to uninstall every time I close out InDesign, so if anyone can help that would be much appreciated 🙂

You might try to reset the preferences - there's a quick shortcut which does a basic reset but the link gives a more indepth way of doing it further
Try resetting your preferences:
Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Alternatively if that's not working:
Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

The Shift+Option+Command+Control Actually worked for booting it up, but I closed InDesign to see if it fixed it for good, and sadly it's not a complete fix. I'll try the cleaner tool.

The account change sounds like a red herring. What operating system are you running and is InDesign fully updated to 18.5?
