Unable to open the file created on Mac and saved to Google Drive on PC

Hi,

Working on a big project for work. Templates were created in Macs and saved on Google Drive. When PC users go to work on the file to update it, they keep getting this error. Does anyone know how to fix it? We tried renaming the file, got our helpdesk involved. PC users are on Windows 10 Pro, and everyone has the latest version of Adobe Creative Cloud.

Hi @Hilda23969891hpbj , there was a question yesterday about Creative Cloud File sync’ing where one of the collaborators was not able to open ID files because the invitation to sync had not allowed editing. Not sure if Google Drive has a similar read only option, but here is the post with the solution:

Dropbox also has a read write option in the invitation—I assume it’s standard with most file sharing services?:

Well, it looks like either there is a .idlk file (lock file) that isn't being deleted when the file is closed or you need to fix the permissions on google drive.

The permissions on the Google Drive are fine. Can you tell me more about the .idlk file lock? I rarely use InDesign and I'm trying to help the team out. Thank you, I appreciate it!

Make sure there is no smart sync feature enabled. Try Dropbox or OneDrive as alternates.

Google Drive is the cloud service I see the most issues reported about.
