Unable to retain my custom workspace on InDesign 18.3 on MacOS Ventura machine

I'm using InDesign 18.3 on Mac OS Ventura 13.4. Even though custom workspace shows in the list, when I close any document, open any document, or create a new document, it switches back to Essentials. Most of the help I'm seeing in the forums is for older versions and doesn't match up with my version of InDesign or Mac OS (like deleting certain files from the cache--they don't appear to be anywhere).

I've tried restarting, tried logging out of Adobe Creative Cloud, I'm not sure what else to do. It's very irritating to do that every time I open or create any document.

I've not had that problem with workspaces when working with Ventura 13.4 and InDesign 18.3.

I'd suggest restoring your InDesign preferences and caches as described below, then create a new workspace:

I tried to follow the instructions. Rebuilding preferences didn't do anything. I couldn't rename files in the cache because it doesn't seem to exist.

I did find the library, followed the instructions above, and it still won't keep my custom workspace as the default workspace.

I found the libraries, followed the instructions above,  no difference. InDesign will not set my custom workspace as the default--I still have to change it every time I open a document or switch from document to document.

UPDATE: I ended up needing tech support from Adobe. It took a little over 2 hours to fix the issue. They had to remote in and wipe everything related to Adobe apps (not just uninstall). Once that was done they did a clean install on my InDesign (I had to do the other apps myself after the call) and it worked.
