My teacher told me this spacing is wrong, but I cant seem to find a way to fix it. Ive tried changing justification settings but none of them seemed to fix this for me. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this spacing?

Without seeing hidden characters, I can't be sure but it looks that there is a forced line break at the end of this line.

That would make sense, actually. I will check later.

Can you post a screenshot showing hidden characters?

I also see that it seems that you don't allow hyphenation. It is very difficult to get a good result when hyphenation is off on a justified text, especially when lines are very short.

A couple things you could try:

1. Highlight the entire paragraph and set it Align left to temporarily remove your justification settings, then select the Type>Show Hidden Characters menu command. This will:

  • Let you see if there are any odd seetings applied to the type, and
  • Let you see if the line breaks change when you remove the justification from the paragraph

Then set it back and see if the line breaks with the justified type suit you better. You could get that lucky ...

2. If not, check the text wrap around the pine tree graphic. It's possible — especially if you've used InDesign's automated functions to create an irregular text wrap around the graphic — that some odd artifact is influencing how the copyfit is exaggerated in the first line, or that it's causing problems in the setup of the second line. Minor adjustments to the text wrap may get you a better copyfit. This is admittedly a low-percentage play, but I've had good results on the rare occasion that this was the root of my copyfit problems.

Hope this helps,

Randy

Looks like you have justified right and left. Just use justified left. Should get rid of extra spacing.
