Using a kdp template to design a book cover.

Hi,

If I go to Amazon kdp and put in the dimensions of a book or book cover, kdp will create a downloadable template with the bleed and guide lines for creating a specific size. Should I use the template in inDesign under my artwork, fitting it to the template, or should I actually create pages(3 for cover with back, front and spine) and input the actual numerical measurements? Thanks in advance.

I just downloaded a template putting in arbitrary settings.

All you get is a PDF and JPEG.

So you'll need to recreate those dimensions exactly in InDesign.
