Using Tamil font in InDesign CS3

I'm trying to generate a document in ID CS3 (Windows 10) usng Tamil fonts. So far all attempts to import, copy/paste, place (from MS Word.doc) have been unsuccessful. The text displays normally in the Story Editor (image attached) and can be edited there, but in Layout the screen is blank (does not display any text - at all) with the cursor blinking in the upper left empty page. In Layout mode I can enter Tamil characters manually using a Tamil keyboard, but that sort of defeats the purpose.

Is there a way to import Tamil text into a ID file?

Your story editor screenshot shows the text as "overset" which is why it will not show on the page. Why don't you build a paragraph style and apply it to the text and see if that changes the problem?

Thanks. I hadn't noticed that little ov at the side. Everything seems to be fixed. It often seems to take the simplest thing to confound me!
