Version19.0: glyph colour changes when exporting document to pdf

Hello,

since updating to v19.0 there are three specific glyphs that change colour and font when exporting the document to pdf. Font: Segoe UI Emoji, Unicodes: 1F170, 1F171, 1F17F. In InDesigns the glyphs are shown as in a dark grey (see figure 1), that's the way it's supposed to look. When I export the document to pdf those glyphs are suddenly pink and blue (see figure 2). I have notived that there's a different font in InDesign with the same unicodes which shows the glyphs in pink and blue. However that is not the font I assigned to the glyphs in InDesign. I installed the older version 18.5 again and there a no more problems. So there's probably a bug in v19.0. Does someone know what I could do to handle this or is this something Adobe needs to resolve?

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please try the suggestions shared in this similar discussion, and if this doesn't work, please confirm the version of the Operating system and if it is happening with a specific file or multiple files.

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the suggestions in the shared discussions didn't really help. I didn't use any special colours in InDesign and haven't changed the settings since opening the document in the older version.

My operating system is Windows 11 and the problem occurs with multiple files. My colleague (same operating system) tried it as well with the same outcome.

Do you have this problem only in ONE specific document - or a new / blank document have the same problem?

I have this problem in multiple existing documents. I just started a new document with the same glyphs and still have the same problem. I attached a test document (indd & pdf).

My coworkers and I are noticing the same with the Segoe UI Emoji font. We would like to have a way to control whether the font exports to PDF in color or not. Like Maren said, this started occuring last week with the v19.0 update.

We are seeing the same issue. We used a glyph from the Segoe UI Emoji font which was exporting just fine before. It is set to white in InDesign but upon export, it turns the icon to red for some reason.

But it's not really a solution - it's no longer an editable text...

I am also experiencing this issue with this specific font.

You can indeed work around it by converting the text to outlines, but this isn't ideal because it is no longer editable, it doesn't always export properly when converting to ePub, and is causing problems as we now have to check every single file we made in the past for this font whenever we have a reprint, which is incredibly time-intensive.

Has anyone found a way to force Indesign to just export what is on the page as it did in previous versions?
