Vertical Justification Issue (Branched)

Engaged ,

[Branched from CC 2018 Vertical Justification Issue]

To add - when I first opened the idml yesterday and edited the file, it worked fine and I was able to edit it. This morning I've re-opened the document I created to make some client amends and they are re-setting.

The Baseline Options for these text boxes are set on 'Ascent' but none of the alternative options (Cap Height, Leading, x Height, Fixed) set the text on the baseline as it was before editing the box. 'Break Link to Style' in Object Styles also does not work and when I copy and paste the text box it also defaults to the dropped baseline.

Is anybody checking this thread any more or should I try and post elsewhere?

It might be best to start a new thread.

Add your (exact) version of InDesign and OS.

Are you copying and pasting text from Word or InDesign (or another app)?

OS 10.13.6

CC2019 14.0.2

I'm editing an existing text box within the document and it's re-setting the baseline each time. If I try to copy/paste said text box without editing it, the entire line re-sets. See grabs below. The document was working fine yesterday after creating it from an idml file. It's not a wraparound issue, either.

First grab is of file opened, no editing.

Second grab is of selecting text box and attempting to edit one word.Screen Shot 2019-05-09 at 13.26.14.png

Third grab is copying and pasting in place entire text box with no editing.

Hi cyclopsdx ,

I think that issue is crying for a new thread.

What would be wonderful:

Provide a sample document, also the IDML file, via Dropbox or a similar service.

Regards,
Uwe

Hi Laubender

The problem I have is the templates are from a client and contain sensitive © information and content and I probably wouldn't be allowed to share them. The client is claiming the files are ok. I might add that these templates are the only ones I'm having this issue with. I'm working in English International, whereas the original files were created in Germany. Could this be an issue, too?

Could you exchange the sensitive contents with "Lorem Ipsum" text perhaps?

Uwe

Ha. That's a possibility but the problem there is that, whenever I edit the file, the text boxes default. Catch-22, I'm afraid!

Indeed. Catch-22.

Hm. Will the text frames default if you are using the Story Editor Window ?

Select the text frame and do keyboard shortcut Ctrl + y ( Windows ) or Cmd + y ( Mac ).

Regards,
Uwe
