Question

What is the secret for activating fonts quickly?

Hey!
I'm a designer at a marketing firm and we regulary get designs from client using Adobe fonts. NOT ONCE has InDesign activated the fonts on the first try. It always requires me to go through a series of tries until it finally works. Is there a preference setting or a network setting or something that could cause it to be slower for me than it's supposed to be? Or is this just the normal behavior for everyone?

Thank you

Thanks for the info,

hm, it will not work if you open a document with missing fonts?

Are you not asked by InDesign if you want to activate fonts from Adobe Fonts to substitute the missing ones?

Hi scotw74004221,

what exactly does this mean, can you specify?

Hm. What's your exact version of InDesign?
What operating system?

Do you know about this option in InDesign 2021:

Preferences > File Handling > Fonts

[  ] Auto-activate Adobe Fonts

Thank you for the response.

I'm using InDesign 15.1.3 on OS X 10.15.7

What I mean buy "a series of tries" is closing InDesign and then opening the file again, which sometimes makes it work. I have to go to the Adobe website for fonts and manually activate it there, then switch back. It NEVER automatically activates the fonts even though I have that preference turned on. I see the spinning blue wheel for minutes.
