Why when using a paragrph style and I click on the space bar, does it go to the next line instead of just spacing??

If your cursor is already close to the end of the line, it's likely because it's within the hyphenation zone and wrapping text to the next line as it's designed to do.

If you type "Hi." and it goes to the next line when you hit the spacebar, there may be a hardware or software issue.

Check to see if the paragraph is set to balance ragged lines.
