Hey gang,

Do any of you know which .dll file or folder within Adobe InDesign CS6 contains the startup splash png image file?

Best,

Michael,

Almost all graphical UI elements are inside idrc_PNG* folders with IDRC extension.

Basically, they are regular PNGs with changed extension.

Splash screen can be found here: \Adobe InDesign CS6\(InDesign Resources)\idrc_PNGA\294.idrc

Simply change IDRC to PNG and you will be able to load it in Photoshop.

Hope that helps.

In Windows OS, this trick of replacing the png file in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2022\Required\(Links Resources)\idrc_PNGA" was working till indesign CC 2021.

I also replaced the idrc files here.

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2022\(InDesign Resources)\idrc_PNGA"

Now it is not working in InDesign CC 2022.

Any trick to change the splash screen like before?

Go to here:

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2022\(InDesign Resources)\idrc_PNGA"

Find this files: 400, 6400, and 12400 all in idrc extension.

Change idrc to png, you can see the plain picture.

Replace or edit the all three files,

Change back extension to idrc

Open your InDesign an viola!

The splashart for photoshop cc. is no longer in any dll files. if you can unpack the files inside of resources folder. you can change it anytime.

Does anyone know of any galleries of people's alternate splash screens? I want to change InDesign's screen but at the same time don't want to waste a whole bunch of time coming up with a presentable alternative when I have a load of work to do.

I only really care about InDesign's splash screen at present as it essentially says "doctors" (DRS) to me every time I open it. For me at least, this is currently the last thing I want to see when my wife is currently in hospital!

Ah, hours of good, clean fun! Many thanks, Marijan, Peter, and all! I have now customized the Welcome Screen, the Splash Screen, the About screen within InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Each one is slightly different in its approach. Photoshop was the most difficult. Illustrator was easy, as the files are named .png to begin with and are easy to find.

And for all the Mac users, go to:

Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Adobe InDesign CS6.app

Open the package of the app.

The whole path is:

Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Adobe InDesign CS6.app/Contents/Resources/idrc_PNGA/294.idrc

i hope to know, too. the splashscreens are by no means one of the ugliest within the whole universe...

Take a look at this post: Re: Where is Photoshop CC splash screen hidden? Used to be in PSArt.dll but it's been moved I think...

Didn't they dump the splash screen in CS6?

No. Maybe you call it the startup screen?

Is it supposed to look like this? For a moment(*) I thought my system had crashed

This image is not anywhere found as a separate file, so yeah, I guess that probably would make it an alpha transparent PNG somewhere inside a library.

Why'd you wanna know? You want to change it or something? Tinkering with program code is a bad idea in general.

(*) Actually, for several minutes, while IDCS6 was churning through its initializing startup routine and loading 457MB for 761 items. (Per Finder Info -- hopefully not all of it.)
