White borders (top and left sides) when exporting from InDesign

Hi,

I keep getting these white borders (see image) when exporting from InDesign. The white borders show up on the left and top sides of the page.

I have searched these forums (and Google), but can't find a solution. Here's what I have tried so far:

1. Exporting (from InDesign) to Adobe Print and checking with the Marks & Bleeds. All boxes unchecked and Bleeds = 0

2. Exporting to Adobe PDF (Interactive) with the default settings

3. Have also checked the Document Setup properties and nothing seems off

The background is a blue rectangle (see image).

Please help. If you need any other information, let me know.

Thanks,

Raj

Hi YarJar: I think it's your Display Theme. Try View > Display Theme > Dark in either Acrobat or Reader. That's how the apps work, unless you are in Full Screen mode (Ctrl/Cmd+L).

Barb, how right you are! In the Dark Theme (Read / Acrobat) the white borders vanish.

This is both heartening and disheartening and I hope Adobe looks into this. Most users will have the default theme (Light Gray) turned on and they'll see the white borders. It does take away from the overall aesthetics of the document.

Thanks again for sorting this out.

i’m noticing a .25pt stroke at the edge of your “blue” background … are you wanting that stroke? you might select the bkgd-element and check your "swatch-palette" … see what color that stroke is set up as.

you may have the stroke enabled as "default" … in order to disable that stroke as default … open *.indd program with no document open … then go to swatch-palette and disable stroke … then, close down *.indd program. indesign should now retain your ‘no stroke’ option.

keep in mind … i am only a member … my findings/opinions may not be accurate/acceptable.

There's no stroke applied. It's the first thing I checked.

Also, the background rectangle is larger than the document size (as you can see in the BG Rect.png in my first post)—so even if I have a stroke it won't appear on the border.

With which program are you viewing the PDF?

I've opened it with both Reader and Acrobat Pro DC. No difference at all.

You can check that in the images below.
