Why are my properly formatted tables inheriting garbage styles every time I create them?

I have taken the time to develop a very thorough table style, along with cell styles that point to paragraph styles. I'm endeavoring to account for everything so InDesign knows exactly how to format. However, for whatever reason, when I create a table based on this style - or, for that matter, any random table from scratch - the result is that the contents always inherit a character and paragraph style that is completely wrong. I have no idea how or why it's doing it.

In order to cut to the chase, here's a link to the zip-file that contains the INDD and document fonts. I'd appreciate it if any of you had any thoughts. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but if so, I can't fathom what it is.

Thanks in advance.

The character style "Highlight - Yellow" and paragraph style "Column List Numbered" are selected, and when you use the type tool to create a new frame, enter text, convert to table, these styles are applied.

Select the type tool and with no frames selected, change the character style to none, and the paragraph style to basic. Next time you create a text frame and insert or convert a table, the styles should apply correctly.
