Question

Why can't I copy and paste from Excel to Indesign?

Before Creative Cloud I could copy and paste content from Excel into my Indesign file. In Creative Cloud when i paste the data over I get the dreaded red dot in the cell. Instead of copying into the cells like it used to, it copies all the data into one cell. This is not improving your product Adobe! Every release you come out with it gets more frustrating and complex. More than it needs to be. Does anyone have a solution to this? I don't want to re-import the table and have to go through all the formatting. It takes too much time to format the tables. I only need to update the data.

If you want to paste Excel data into an existing table you need to select an identical range in InDesign. There is nothing new about this.

Or: hit Escape (ESC) key in the first cell, it will get selected, then paste.

    As Bob said: nothing new.

Pressing the ESC key in the first cell didn't work either.
