Word index

New Here ,
Nov 28, 2024 Nov 28, 2024

Hello everyone, one of my clients asked me to do a word index of the book I am working on.

He gave me a list of words (more than 100 words) and I have to mention in the index each word on what page it is located.

[eg: the word "language" at what pages is mentioned

Language: 10, 15, 38, 45, etc...]

Each word should be indexed like this.

I am new to indexing and have never used it before. Is there any way to do this automatically, or with a script?
The only way I know is to use the "Find/Change" to search for each word, but that will take a lot of time.

This should get you what you need. It does not use IDs index functionality but it works well.

If you work on a PC - you could use my ID-Tasker tool. It isn't free but I can give you access to the full version for free for a few days.

You can load your words / phrases and add found results to the InDesign's indexing mechanism.
