Alternative to Indesign SWF Shockwave player flip book

Hi,

I have designed a 14 page mini product brochure in indesign.  I basically would like to have the simple page curl/turn feature and/or next page arrows so that I can send the brochure to clients via email.  The only problem is on completion of the brochure I realise that Flash shockwave SWF files are not as often used and so many will not be able to open the brochure.  Can you please advise how to proceed and if there is an alternative for what I am trying to achieve without having to pay money for a 3rd party flip book software?  I could always send a bog standard pdf but then that doesn't provide the feel of flicking through a brochure.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Regards,

Steve

actually you have the option to download a .pdf version of the file with IN5 v.3,

The client can download a version of the file to view locally offline. If the OP adds a next page and previous page buttons he can have an interactive aspect to the .pdf as well. These are features of the new version of IN5, i am using it and it works great.

The new version of IN5 has the flip page effect, and it works on mobile devices. but its something you would have to pay for.

Thanks Jonathan, I will take a look.  So long as the costs are minimal that shouldn't be a problem but I'd have thought there had been a straightforward way to send an indesign ebrochure with page turn than as a SWF file which is apparently now becoming an exintinct facility?

    Thanks

you can add next page and previous page buttons on the bottom of the page and export as interactive .pdf if you want to give it interactivity.

look at in5 (Ajar Productions: Design and Animation Software) I think that is a good fit for wanting a document that is view online, with the page turn you are looking for at a lower prize.

Send a regular old PDF. The recipients will thank you for it rather than cursing you and ignoring the mess of a flipbook that provides zero benefit to you or them.

Thank you Bob.  Is there no way a page turn feature can be done without there being a mess? Somewhere in-between a 'flashy' flash file and a basic pdf?  Do you know of a way to turn the indesign brochure into a URL that can be visible online to avoid the mess?

    thanks

What possible good could come of this? Do you think that a recipient will refuse to look at if there’s no flip? Now, let’s look at the other side…do you think someone will refuse if you add it and cause this thing to be impossible or difficult to search and slow to browse through?

I’m giving you the best possible advice and telling you that I would personally just delete it.

It’s about the content and making it as easily viewable as possible. What are you trying to hide with fancy effects?
