Autosize Text Frame for Section Markers

I have created a text frame on the A-Master and have set it to show section markers. The text frame has a fill color applied to it and it is aligned to the right margin. I want this text frame to automatically adjust its width to fit the section marker text, which varies in length with each section. I tried setting its Auto-Sizing to "Width Only", but it didn't work. The text frame shrinks to a small width and it doesn't resize in any of the pages to which the A-Master is applied.

I've just got started with InDesign and still trying to get the hang of it, but I need to do this urgently for a task. Appreciate any help!

The Autosize feature for a text frame will not support expanding a frame for items like text variables or section markers. It's intended for items like captions which have real text; those will expand or contract as the text is edited.

 

Figure out what's the longest line you'll need and use that width for your section marker text frame.
