Change Size of Footnote # in the WORD Text

Explorer ,
Sep 26, 2017 Sep 26, 2017

I'm importing a WORD document with many footnotes.     The size of the superscript footnote # within the Word text emerges in my ID document super tiny, maybe  about 3-4pt.   The size of the footnote number within the footnote text is superscript normal, same size as the text within the footnote.    How do I change the character size of the footnote # within the Word text above the actual footnote?

Alternatively, is there a way in WORD to increase the size of the footnote # within the body text?     The footnote # in the footnote text is fine, don't want to change that.

Can't seem to find this in ID default settings.

Ta Da!!!!!!!    Just found the default setting...

/InDesign/Preferences/Advanced Type

Within here, I am able to set the default size of the footnote # within the body text, and its relative elevation in relation to surrounding text.

Has no effect within the actual footnote # below, starting out the footnote itself.

I appreciate these forums as they not only provide answers, but also force revisiting settings previously visited.

Have you tried making a character style and entering here?

I just checked my author's Word document and find that his body text is 12 pt and his companion footnote # in the text is also 12 pt.    His footnote beneath is 10 pt and the footnote # there is also 10 pt.

When I "Place" his document into my empty ID document, the body text remains 12 pt but the footnote # in the body text shrinks to about 2-3 pt,       Conversely, the footnote # in the actual footnote below emerges as the original 10 pt, and the footnote # is also 10 pt.

Where is the default setting for the size of the footnote # as ir appears in the body test?      Try as I might, can't seem to find it.

Check if the body text footnote # has a character style. If it has change the size to whatever size you want. If not create a character style and apply that style to the #.

I would not alter the setting in /InDesign/Preferences/Advanced Type. That will alter all superscripts not just footnote #
