Hi folks,

Apologies in advance if this question has been asked before.

I'm looking to purchase a secondhand Macbook Pro 17 inch (2011) which the seller has confirmed has the following specification:

Mac OS High Sierra version 10.13.3

Processor: 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7

Memory: 16GB 1333 MHZ DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

Storage: 480GB Solid State SATA Drive

I'm wondering if it possible to run InDesign and Illustrator with the above spec?

Generally, the machine will be used when on holiday and out and about for updating client Wordpress sites etc, however, it would be nice to be able to make changes to some desktop designed files if required.

Many thanks in advance for any guidance and advice

Anna

don't base your selection around supporting GPU performance.

i think that machine should be good for a few more years of light work.

    Many thanks Doug

The only versions supported under High Sierra are CC2018 apps. If that’s what you’re referring to, it should okay, but it’s not going to be screaming fast with that old a processor.

    Hi Bob,

Thank you so much for getting back to me

It was more whether my subscribed CC2018 apps (InDesign and Illustrator mainly) would even open on it - not too worried about speed I suppose as technically I shouldn't even be working on Holiday More if the apps would crash etc

Not keen to spend huge amounts of money on a machine that would be only used occasionally for brochure updates etc that were not sorted before going away - again, hope that all makes sense.

    Thanks again

    Hi,

As long as your machine satisfies the InDesign system requirements , InDesign should not be crashing.
