Create Cross-references using Find/Replace, GREP or script?

Hello,

I'm working on a book that has many numbered figures. In the word document I started with, there are in-text references (e.g., "see figure 5") to the figures. I have my figure captions set up as numbered paragraphs, and I'd like to replace the static references with cross-references.

It's also worth noting that when I imported the word document and looked at the text in story view, the in-text references were tagged as cross-references. However, they're not in the cross-reference or hyperlink panel, so I can't edit them.

Thanks for any and all help!

Hi Obi-wan,

Thanks, the video helps. Is the script that's referred to in the video available anywhere?

Thanks!
