Error code 5

I created a file this morning and have restarted since. Now when I try to open it, I get a message saying the file is damaged and can't be opened. Error code: 5

Is there any way I can save it?

I will be more than happy to help you. As Jane mentioned please share your file at corrupt_indesign_docs@adobe.com.

There are multiple factors both internal and external to InDesign application that can lead to document corruption. However, we can take a look and see if the file can be repaired.

If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link.

hello there,

i've got an error 5, but different situation.

i was having trouble getting CS5 InDesign to open without crashing.

Someone advised that I uninstall and reinstall InDesign.

So I uninstalled it. Then recovered it (the entire InDesign folder) from my Time Machine Back Up.

I loaded. I restarted.

When I tried to open the app, i got error 5.

Is this fixable?

Send your file to corrupt_indesign_docs@adobe.com and if it's bigger than 10 Mb, zip and password protect it, upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send the document link to that email address.
