Hi All,
This is the first time on here, I'm wandering if anyone could help with something that's driving me mad. I have created a brochure in InDesign as a print document, my colleague now needs it as an interactive pdf which needs a video embedding in to it. I have done this, and added page transitions in to it also. I've tested the transitions and media within the SWF preview in InDesign and it all works fine, It exports out as an interactive pdf fine.
The issue is when I open the pdf, the page transitions don't work and I cannot view the video which has been embedded as it states I need to Install the required flash player (our IT are very strict with downloads). I have tried this on a machine which has flash player and it works there so I know it will work, the issue is I will need to send this out to clients and if this happens to them they also wont be able to view it. Because of this I then exported as SWF interactive file and the page transitions works but the media doesn't (even though all forums says it supports both). Could anyone suggest what is the best way to create any kind of interactive document from InDesign which does not need flash player installed to view the media and also supports page transitions. Also because of the need of flash players are Interactive pdf's
becoming obsolete? Any suggestions welcome! Thank you!

PDF can't do what you're seeking, have a look at in5 Export HTML5 from InDesign with in5 - Home or possibly CircularFLO https://www.circularflo.com/

Don't use flash transitions. Use it native acrobat page transitions.

I don't think you can do that if you don't have flash player installed can you?

There are page transitions that are specific to Acrobat but they only work in when opening the file in full screen.
Without knowing what you're trying to accomplish and what the target audience is, it's impossible to give you guidance on the best format(s).

I just need my brochure to be interactive - meaning it will play videos and page transitions (transitions are not as important) in any format be it pdf or web link without the need for flash player as a lot of the computers in our company do not have flash player installed. This is a sales aid and will be sent to colleagues internally and to external customers as a guide.

In addition to the options I mentioned earlier, if you don't mind an online brochure, have a look at InDesign's Publish Online.

I've done this too but wasn't too sure about it being online, this may be the way I have to go though. Thanks for your help

Maybe you could produce two versions, one sized for computers and one sized for smart phones. You can put links to each on your customer's website and the visitor can choose which version they prefer.

Video playing currently uses Flash Player in Acrobat. That isn't really an issue with the document, but a choice Adobe made. They will have to change is as they recently announced Flash Player will die forever in 2020 or before, but for now you can't use videos in a PDF. You can, however, link to a web page with a video on it.
