How to make a paper file in Indesign

Hello,

I wonder how to make a paper map with Indesign. I saw tutorials only on Illustrator which I dont have. How to add that inner fold which is inside of a school map? If you make a book all pages have same size but with a map the fifth site would be that fold to keep sheets inside the map. I hope you are getting my point...

Thanks for your answer.

The reason why all the tutorials you watched recommended Illustrator is that Illustrator has the best tools for drawing a precise die strike like the one that Jongware showed. InDesign does have drawing tools that an experienced user might be able to make a simple die strike with but Photoshop would absolutely be the wrong program to do it in.

Yes, Jongware this is what I am looking for, a folder die-cut, I couldn't find the correct word. And I would like it look like the one on the picture you posted. Probably curvy or slanting edges are out of the question in Indesign? What about doing it in Photoshop?

I will try to do it with a page tool, but does it make any difference in settings when I will export file into pdf for print?

I highly recommend spending some time at https://foldfactory.com/pages/template-builder. Just plug-in the page specs you need, and the FOLDRite Template Builder will build a properly sized and labeled InDesign downloadable template. For free.

Have a look and see if this doesn't get you want you want.

seems  you  are  talking  about  a  'foldout' … wouldn't  be  any  different  from  illustrator … use  indd's  "page tool"  to  adjust  size  of  a  single-page  rather  than  facing-page … 7x10  facing  pages  would  likely  utilize  a  13.5"  foldout.  however,  easiest  creating  separate  document  just  for  the  foldout.

That would not work for the folds themselfs. An image would help (even if it is from an Illustrator tutorial) but I think Natasao wants to have a "die-cut" such as this: Folder Die Cut Empty Shablon Blank Stock Vector 453289432 - Shutterstock

Maybe you mean a book or booklet where the back page of the cover folds out and this is where you'd print your map.

Could you provide more specifics about what you are looking to do? Post a screen shot of an existing example to show exactly what kind of map you're talking about.
