InDesign CS5 freeze when open document - missing font Cochin (T1) medium

hi and thanks for any help !

an important DC5 document, working on it for years, will not open anymore.

It freezes just second after this error message :

The document uses one or more fonts which are not currently available on your system.

The text will use a substitute font until the original font becomes available.

Cochin (T1) Medium is concerned.

InDesign freeze with this error message and there is no way to press the button "find Font" to substitute another font.

I do not have Cochin (T1) Medium on my system, only Cochin regular, italic, bold, bold italic and they are “checked, on and save to use” in Font Book.

In this document should be only Font Frutiger with no intention I put Cochin.

I thought that I could find online "Cochin (T1) Medium" but no way to found "medium".

Has anyone here a solution ?

sincerely with many thanks

found the problem, when Masterpage window is in front - my particular inDesign document freeze !

When Masterpage window is behind and the link or layer windows are in front my document open well.

This issue is only in my particular InDesign document (since serveral years I'm working for a book).

    Have you a solution ?

    Hi Corinne,

you could export the document to IDML, open the IDML with CS5, save the document with a new name and see if the issue persists.

That could eliminate minor corruption of the document.

Also check what exact version of CS5 you are using.

Perhaps there is a bug fix available.

The most current version of CS5 is 7.0.4.

To see what version you have, hold down the Cmd key and choose menu About InDesign.

    If you have 7.0.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2 or 7.0.3 update your InDesign CS5.

Download version 7.0.4 installer from here:

Adobe - InDesign : For Macintosh

    Hi there,

We are sorry to hear about that. There are multiple factors both internal and external to InDesign application that can lead to document corruption. However, we can take a look and see if the file can be repaired. Please share your InDesign file and we will take a look at the document.

If it is a huge file, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and share the document link.

    Regards,

as a swiss graphic designer I'm working for haitian schoolbooks.

The internet line is mostly slow.

Would you have the font Cochin (T1) medium ?

I do not found it online, but maybe the font came from Adobe ?

    regards

There is no way any Type 1 font came from Adobe.
