InDesign Freezing

New Here ,
Feb 25, 2019 Feb 25, 2019

Using InDesign CC 2019 on Windows 7. It freezes when I select the Text tool, eventually it comes back and lets me select a text box but as soon I change the text font it completely freezes. Don't know if it's related but when I bring up Task Manager during the freeze there's a lot of CEPHtmlEngine.exe running. Any help is appreciated!

Have you updated to 14.0.1?

InDesign version is 14.0, Creative Cloud says that it is up to date though. Had an update on my graphics card which I went ahead and did it; it seems to be working better but it still lags when I switch to Text tool.

As Bob said 14.0.1 is the latest version. If the app section of your Creative Cloud desktop app is not showing that as your version then click on the three dots at the top right of the Desktop app. The desktop app will then search for the most recent version of the program and it should then become available to install.

Logged out, logged back in, checked for updates but it still shows V14.0. Any other ideas?

Hi Mike,

Make sure that the system has service pack 1 installed. If that doesn't help, please uninstall InDesign from CC desktop app and remove all the InDesign folders from the following locations:

  • C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
  • C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Adobe
  • C:\Program Files\Adobe(Do not delete older versions like CS5/CS6 in case you have any CS versions installed)
  • Reinstall the latest version from CC desktop app.

Regards,

Srishti
