InDesign running slow

A couple of weeks ago InDesign began running very slow—spinning ball every time I make a minor revision. I looked through past support threads, and tech support suggested updating (I'm using the latest version) or turning off third-party apps (I'm not using any). Then the string was marked "resolved" and it was suggested to "vote" on a most relevant post? I'm not sure what that's about. Has anyone else experienced this same slowness, and if so, how did you fix it?
